Type CaseType case with movable type used for manual typesetting.



  1. The first photograph is has an “inoperative” caption. What is pictured is not a type case. Nor do the shelves contain movable type. What is pictured are the brass matrices from which type is cast. Matrices that were most likely cut by Frederick Goudy himself. That process can be understood by visiting:
